The Healing Power of Nature

When I am feeling the stress of the day, I go for a walk. When my children are sad or in most cases, bored, we go for a walk. There is something about stepping out into nature that transforms the mood. It feels like all our worries fall away into nothingness.

Our favorite place to walk is the local park. There are many trails and a stream that runs through it. We love the fact that we are treated with something different each time we go. Hawks, chipmunks, crows, buzzards (they like to circle around while we enjoy a picnic lunch), tadpoles and many others. The hawks almost always say hello to us. There is a mom and dad and their chicks( I'm sure they are getting pretty big by now).

My children comment on how much better they feel when they go for nature walks. The sounds, the smells and most of all the sights. Oh, and Grandfather Tree, we must say hello to him while we are at the park. We are afraid that one day he will no longer be there. That will be a very sad day, so for now we will simply enjoy his company.

Grandfather Tree

When I am on nature walks, I feel closer to my Goddess, to the spirits of the land, to life its-self.

How do you feel in the arms of Nature?  Does it sooth your soul?

A Rainbow of Irish Blessings

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers-
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours-
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

Wishin' you a pot o' gold...
and all the joy your heart can hold.

As sure as there are leprechauns
To make a wish come true,
Tis nothing but the happiest
Of days I'm wishing you.

May you have lots of happiness
And Irish luck too-
May your blessings be many
And your troubles be few.

Break Free

Breath
Just breath
Stretch your wings
Break free
From the bonds of self-misery

To Dream of the Faery Lover

Green Branches

Wave, wave, green branches, wave me far away
To where the forest deepens and the hillwinds, sleeping, stay:
Where peace doth fold her twilight wings, and through the heart of day
There goes the rumour of passing hours grown faint and grey.

Wave, wave, green branches, my heart like a bird doth hover
Above the nesting-place your green-gloom shadows cover:
O come to my nesting heart, come close, come close, bend over
Joy of my heart, my life, my prince, my lover!

The Sacredness of Water

When time comes for us to again rejoin
the infinite stream of water flowing to
and from the timeless ocean,
our little droplet of soulful water will
once again flow with the endless stream.

To All Dad's

Dad's Special Place
anonymous

Mother is all that is noble and fine,
And all that is right and good.
She richly deserves every sonnet sung
To her glorious Motherhood.

And when Mother receives some acclaim
The whole wide world is glad,
But away down deep in every heart
There's a place just for Dad.

We may not shower him with praise
Nor mention his name in song,
And sometimes it seems that we forget
The joy he spreads as he goes along,

But it doesn't mean that we don't know
The wonderful role that he has had.
And away down deep in every heart
There's a place that is just for Dad.

Zen Moment

                                                      Sit
                                                     Rest
                                                    Work

                                          Alone with yourself,
                                               Never weary.
On the edge of the forest
                                               Live joyfully,
                                            Without Desire.
